If you follow me on social, you probably have noticed I obviously love my morning drinks. But as much as I'd love to have a warm cup of coffee every single morning, that's just not great for my body or mind because of it's overstimulating effect. So most days I rotate between a cup of bone broth, tea, turmeric latte, or maybe decaf coffee once or twice a week.
My sweet friend Lauren from Flow With Delight is always sharing her deliciously unique coffee and non-coffee blends made with tahini on her IG stories, and after finally going grocery shopping for our new apartment to pick up some essentials (including creamy tahini), I decided to try it for myself. The result? Mind BLOWN.
Tahini, a paste made from sesame seeds, offers a lot of fun benefits, the most noticeable one being it's addition of a creamy earthiness to your drink. I've loved adding tahini recently because of the texture, the small boost of protein it adds to my drink (a tablespoon contains about 2.5 grams protein), it's high amount of omega-3 fatty acids (great for the brain, heart + skin), and it's nutrient profile of zinc, magnesium, B vitamins, potassium, calcium and iron. As someone who can't have grass fed butter or coconut oil everyday, I'm always looking for and trying alternatives that will add a boost to my morning drink, and I feel like I've finally found a great go-to.
The Turmeric-Tahini Latte below is sure to blow your mind + give your health an extra boost without the jitters!
Makes 1 large serving
Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender until completely smooth, then transfer to a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Heat until warmed and ready to drink.
Another option is to add all blended ingredients to a milk frother that warms and froths the drink (my favorite + most easy way!).
