spiced turmeric latte

Since giving up coffee about a year ago, I've struggled to find a comparable alternative. Although I treat myself to decaf once a week, I've wanted something to drink on a more regular basis that still gives me that rich taste of coffee, but lacks the buzz + crash. 

 

For me, tea lacks the boldness and volume that coffee encompasses, and while matcha is a great alternative, it still has too much caffeine for me to handle. After being on a caffeine sabbatical, even decaf coffee can sometimes do me in! So, what's a girl to do without her morning beverage? 

 

Enter this delicious take on a Spiced Turmeric Latte! Sweetened with little more than a couple dates, this drink low in sugar, while also chockfull of healthy fats from cashews and ghee, loaded with anti-inflammatory properties from the turmeric, and even good for the adrenals since it's coffee-free + has an added pinch of sea salt. This simple recipe is full of Fall flavor and a boost of nutrient-dense ingredients fit for a wellness warrior!
 


Spiced Turmeric Latte

Makes 1 large serving (or 2 smaller ones)

 

  • 2 dates, pits removed

  • 1/4 cup raw cashews

  • 1 cup filtered water

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla

  • 3/4 tsp turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tsp ghee or coconut oil

  • pinch of sea salt

Soak dates + cashews for 30 min to an hour in the cup of filtered water - I usually just do this right in my blender pitcher. After soaking, blend in a high speed blender with the rest of the ingredients.

 

Pour into a small saucepan and heat until warm, though avoid bringing to a boil. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy with a dash of cinnamon + nutmeg on top if you'd like!
