When I first baked these cookies, I had a mean hankering for something sweet to match the season. So I got out my baking ingredients, dusted off the KitchenAid, and opened a new can of pumpkin because.. well, Fall. After a little mixin' and whiskin' I threw these puppies in the oven, and by some Autumn miracle they turned out perfectly. A little cakey, but not too much, perfectly sweet, and most importantly, a healthy treat!

Enjoy these cookies with a cold glass of almond milk, a large serving of wine, or seasonal overload. 🍂

As temps start to drop in autumn, and before southern crops start bloomin' (hellooo citrus), we're limited to the fruit available in the US during this in-between season. However, apples - just about every varietal - are available and ready to mingle! So, now is the time to take full advantage of cooking with, snacking on + overall loving this adored, everyday fruit.

Luckily for you (+ me!) I've got two delicious breakfasts for you to try that incorporate apples as the star of the show, including cookies for breakfast!Read on to get your apple a day...

SPICED APPLE OVERNIGHT OATS

Makes 2 servings.

  • 1 apple, chopped + core removed

  • 2/3 cup oats

  • 1 cup milk of choice (almond or cashew are my favorites)

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • ½ tbsp nutmeg

  • pinch of clove

  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, adding a little more liquid if needed (remember, much of it will be absorbed into oats). Divide into two separate mason jars, or other storage co...

Since giving up coffee about a year ago, I've struggled to find a comparable alternative. Although I treat myself to decaf once a week, I've wanted something to drink on a more regular basis that still gives me that rich taste of coffee, but lacks the buzz + crash.

For me, tea lacks the boldness and volume that coffee encompasses, and while matcha is a great alternative, it still has too much caffeine for me to handle. After being on a caffeine sabbatical, even decaf coffee can sometimes do me in! So, what's a girl to do without her morning beverage?

Enter this delicious take on a Spiced Turmeric Latte! Sweetened with little more than a couple dates, this drink low in sugar, while also chockfull of healthy fats from cashews and ghee, loaded with anti-inflammatory properties from the turmeric, and even good for the adrenals since it's coffee-free + has an added pinch of sea salt. This simple recipe is full of Fall flavor and a boost of nutrient-dense ingredients fit for a wellness...

On this last official day of summer before the Autumnal Equinox, it occurrs to me just how much my body flows with the seasons and how strongly my cravings reflect that. Instead of fresh peaches, berries + delicate greens I've eaten all summer, I've got heartier kale, sweet squash + crunchy apples on my mind. Is this all because of the changing leaves outside my front door and the mention of Pumpkin Spice Lattes? Or is there a biological shift when we reach this cusp of the seasons?

Though "seasonal produce" or "seasonal eating" have become buzzwords, our ancestors were way ahead of the game! Back when hunting + gathering was actually necessary for survival, our predecessors had no choice but to eat with the seasons. For them, the luxury of going to the grocery store to pick up an avocado shipped in from Mexico wasn't an option - they'd actually have to travel for months to go south of the border and pick an avo from a tree themselves (and by then they may have been out of s...
